A New York resident has been sentenced to nearly two decades in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy in West Virginia, according to court documents.
Brian Ellis Jones, 44, of Freeport, received an 18-year prison sentence after admitting to shipping multiple packages of meth to Jason Todd Painter, 40, of Clendenin, West Virginia. Between March and June 2023, Jones sent at least 11 parcels containing a total of 33 pounds of meth, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Drug Shipments and Arrest
Authorities say Painter kept a portion of the meth for himself while delivering the rest around Kanawha County under Jones’ direction. Investigators intercepted one of the drug-laden packages in July 2023, leading to Jones’ arrest.
Painter’s Sentence and Legal Consequences
Painter pleaded guilty to similar charges and was sentenced in November 2023 to five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Jones will serve five years of supervised release following his 18-year prison term. Authorities say the case highlights their ongoing efforts to disrupt major drug operations in the regio .
