For one Florida trucker and his four-legged co-pilot, a routine rest stop turned into a terrifying ordeal when a tornado flipped their semi-truck like a toy.
It all happened on Monday morning in Lake Mary, Florida. The driver had parked his rig and settled in for a quick nap with his dog. But just before 9:40 a.m., a sudden tornado tore through the area, cutting across Interstate 4 and lifting the massive truck off the ground. In a split second, the rig crashed down on its side at Commerce Street and Lake Emma Road.
“I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life,” the driver recalled, still in disbelief. One moment, everything was calm, and the next, he and his pup were airborne.
Miraculously, both man and dog emerged unharmed. “The most important thing is that I’m okay,” he said. But his biggest concern? His loyal companion. Despite the chaos, his dog stayed right by his side, riding out the unexpected tumble like a true road warrior.

When asked about his furry friend’s reaction, the trucker smiled. “He’s my best friend,” he said. “And somehow, he was just…excited.”
The timing couldn’t have been worse. The driver hadn’t even picked up his cargo yet when the storm hit. “They hadn’t called me for the load,” he explained. In hindsight, it was probably for the best—less weight in the truck might have made the impact slightly less severe.
Though shaken, the duo walked away with only a wild story to tell. Their truck, however, didn’t fare as well and will likely need extensive repairs. But after an ordeal like this, one thing’s certain: both the trucker and his pup deserve a long, uninterrupted nap—and maybe a few extra treats .
