LEWIS COUNTY, W.Va. – A serious rollover crash on Interstate 79 in Lewis County last week resulted in two children being ejected from the vehicle, authorities say. According to the West Virginia State Police, the children were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver, 41-year-old Fazila Khan of Levittown, Pennsylvania, has been arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect following the incident, court records confirm.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, near mile marker 86 on I-79. Responding officers discovered a silver Nissan in the median and found the two children, ages 7 and 10, had been thrown from the vehicle upon impact. Khan remained trapped inside the car, police said.

While Khan had been wearing a seatbelt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including broken ribs and internal bleeding, the children sustained severe injuries. One child was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital, while the other was transported by ambulance, both in critical condition.
Authorities have not provided an update on the children’s current conditions.
Khan was initially booked at the North Central Regional Jail on Wednesday morning, but by 3 p.m., her name no longer appeared in the system .
