Charleston, WV – West Virginia residents can expect scattered showers to persist through Sunday night, but drier conditions are on the horizon as the new workweek begins. Temperatures will start off cool before gradually warming up by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service Charleston, lingering rain and a few isolated storms will move across the region overnight. In higher elevations, some areas could see light snowfall as precipitation diminishes. Temperatures will dip into the upper 20s to mid-30s in the mountains, while lower elevations will see overnight lows in the 40s and 50s.
A Gradual Warming Trend
Monday will bring clearer skies and drier weather, particularly in the lower elevations. However, in the mountains, lingering snow showers may continue through the early afternoon before tapering off. High temperatures will remain chilly in the 30s in the mountains, while other areas will see highs reaching the mid-50s.
By Tuesday, temperatures will begin to rise under mostly sunny skies, with highs ranging from the mid-50s in higher elevations to the low 70s in the lowlands. The warming trend continues into Wednesday, bringing highs in the 70s across much of the region.
Midweek Rain Returns
While the first half of the week remains mostly dry, rain is set to return Wednesday night as a cold front moves in. Residents should be prepared for changing conditions, with warmer temperatures giving way to increasing rain chances midweek.
